Our Approach

Neecheewam’s work is rooted in an Indigenous worldview of relationship, belonging, and care. We believe healing begins with connection to self, to community, to culture, and to the supports that help young people move forward.

We meet youth where they are at and accept them without judgment. Our role is to hold space for healing by creating environments that support safety, creativity, healthy activity, reflection, and growth. This approach allows youth to build trust, strengthen their identity, and move toward stability in their own time.

Guided by the Seven Sacred Teachings

At the core of Neecheewam’s philosophy are the Seven Sacred Teachings: love, respect, honesty, truth, humility, wisdom, and courage. These teachings shape how we care for youth, work with families, and support one another as staff.

Commitment to Youth and Families

We are committed to providing care that respects the physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing of every child and youth in our care. We recognize the importance of family and community and work toward connection, involvement, and healing whenever it is safe and appropriate.

Safe, Ethical, and Accountable Care

Neecheewam is a licensed charitable, non-profit organization in Manitoba. Our programs are supported by trained staff, guided by professional standards, and reviewed through regular monitoring and evaluation to help ensure quality care.

Commitment to Staff and Community

We believe that respectful, supported employees help create strong and caring environments for children and youth. We also value positive relationships with community partners and services that contribute to holistic support for youth and families.
